What is Christmas without a glass of mulled wine? We love making mulled wine. It’s really easy to make and a great way to spread Christmas cheer with friends and family.
I served wine in my lovely doublewalled glasses from Judge Cookware. They are so fabulous, you can easily hold a glass filled with a warm or cold liquid in it, without any temperature differecence at all.
They also look so cute. See how beautiful the wine looks in these glasses.
They sure are a focal point of conversation at parties.
Ingredients
- Red wine- 750 ml
- Sugar- 150 gm
- Orange Juice- 1/2 cup
- Peel of 1 orange
- Peel of 1 lemon
- Star Anise- 1
- Cloves- 5
- Cinnamon stick- 2 inch
- Nutmeg- 1 tsp
- Ginger- 1 inch, smashed
Method
Step 1
Take a large saucepan and add in the range juice, sugar and spices. Add in just a quarter glass of wine in case the sugar isn't covered. Cook till thick and sticky. This process should take upto 5 minutes. You must be vigilant and ensure that the sugar doesn't get burnt. It is ok to even add a splash of water if you think the sugar might burn.
Step 2
Add the rest of the wine into the spice infused mixture. Do remember to turn the heat down. Never boil wine, else the alcohol will all evaporate before you realise it!
Step 3
Let simmer for another 5 minutes.
Step 4
Serve warm with a few peels of Orange or a stick of Cinnamon!
