Made from scratch, this is one of my favourite recipes for pasta or meatballs.
And believe me, it does taste a zillion times nicer than that stuff you get in the bottles.
Ingredients
- Onion - 1 finely chopped
- Chilli powder- 1/4 tsp
- Oregano dried - 1 tsp
- Garam masala- 1/4 tsp
- Ketchup - 3 tbsp
- Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Cream( optional)- 1/2 cup
- Salt- to taste
Method
As always, chop those onions.
Heat oil in a flat pan and add the onions.
I like my sauce spicy, so I add in a touch of chilli powder and salt.
Add the ketchup. Add some pepper powder and dried oregano. To make it more spicy, I sometimes add a pinch of garam masala.
It cannot be detected, but just transforms and gives the kiddish tasting tomato-ey sauce a more grown up and refined taste.
Add in 1/2 a cup of milk or cream ( if you are living dangerously) and then blend it in a mixer grinder or use a handblender.
I can’t live without mine. If you don’t have one yet, go get it.
Pop that sauce back into the pan and add in the meatballs or pasta. Always add some grated cheese onto the plate.
