Koshimbir is the Marathi word for salads. This unusual salad or koshimbir made out of papads might not rank terribly high on the health factor but is extremely high on taste.
I had completely forgotten about this gem of a recipe that my Mom often made when the meals were boring (for us) or the vegetable that was made was not our favourite. Believe me , this recipe can perk up any dull meal and takes just 5 minutes to get together.
Try it on unsuspecting guests, I’m sure you will wow them. Just ensure to serve it straight away otherwise the papads will go soft.
Ingredients
Papad (poppadum)-3 roasted on the gas
Onion- finely chopped- 1/4 cup
Coriander- 2 tbsp
Green chilli- chopped- 1
Salt- to taste
Method
Roast the papads on the gas flame with tongs or microwave for 1-2 minutes until it has brownish black spots all over.
Ensure that it has no raw bits left. Alternatively this can be done in a microwave, would take about 20-30 seconds.
Place in a deep bowl.
Chop the onions really fine. Chop the coriander fine.
Cut the chilli into large pieces or fine slices as you prefer.
Toss everything together. Taste, if necessary, add salt.
Delicious!

Sona, that’s great news. Childhood memories are so precious, aren’t they? Glad Prasanna is cooking too.
