Kids always want to eat crunchy, all the time. Try telling them that carrots are too, but they won’t agree will they? And mind you, it’s not just the kids who are looking for those sinful treats. It’s the grownups as well. This recipe is one that my husband has loved all his life and now my son loves as well.
It’s quick to make, good to eat and handy to serve whenever people drop in!

Ingredients
- Maida (all purpose flour)—1 cup
- Nigella seeds (kalonji)—1/2 tsp
- Salt—to taste
- Sugar—1 pinch
- Oil—3-4 tsp
- Oil for frying
- Water for kneading
Method
1. Heat oil in a wok and lower the fame. Keep it ready for frying.

In a large bowl, add the flour, kalonji, salt and sugar and enough water to make a tight dough, about 1/2 cup. Leave aside for 10 minutes to develop. Remember to knead very well. You must get a smooth dough.

Make lime sized balls and roll out into a thin disc.

Apply oil on the inside and fold into triangles.

Lightly roll out again, keeping the shape intact.

Fry in hot oil on a low flame, for about 3 minutes on each side till golden brown.

Drain with a slotted spoon and serve.
Serve this along with a sweet dish to complement and contrast the flavours.
