We all know that carrots contain beta carotene. But did you now that beta-carotene is most important due to its cancer preventing properties? It also protects the heart and cardiovascular system, and reduces clots. Carrots are also an excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin, which along with beta-carotene all concentrate in the retina of the eyes and hence help eyesight.
They do say that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but did you know why? The polyphenol and flavonoids found in apples are excellent for the heart’s health. Apples also contain the important mineral, potassium- again crucial for heart.The unique advantages of apple is that its flavonoids which are excellent for preventing asthma attacks & making lungs strong.
Lastly, lets come to the all important Ginger. Renowned for its anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, ginger also enhances the immune system by boosting your ability to fight infection and disease. Did you know that Ginger improves blood flow by expanding the blood vessels and acts as an anti-coagulant, preventing blood platelets sticking together just like aspirin? It also contains zingibain, an enzyme that helps break down proteins, thereby improving digestion and neutralises stomach acid.
