These soft and delicately flavored chops are an absolute delight, both to behold and to eat!

If you want to serve delicious Indian food, that does not require much effort, then this recipe is a good one to have up your sleeve.

Although the list of ingredients seems long, believe me , making this is a breeze. After all they are just ingredients out of a bottle, what difference if you add 4 or more?

There is not much cooking involved in this recipe. All you need is a bit of patience and let the marinade do its work.

I have adapted this recipe from my ever favourite Prashad by Jiggs Kalra.

Ingredients

  • 12 lamb chops
  • 1st Marinade:
  • Raw papaya - 1/2 tsp or 1 tsp meat Tenderiser (optional)
  • Ginger paste- 4 tbsp
  • Garlic paste - 3 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder -1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • 2nd Marinade:
  • Cumin powder - 1 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 2 tsp
  • Cream - 3 tbsp
  • Lemon juice - 21/2 tbsp
  • Butter - for basting

Method

For the Chops:

Flatten the chops with a mallet or a rolling pin.

1st Marinade:

Marinate the chops in the  1st Marinade for 3 hours.

Marinate the chops now with the 2nd marinade for an hour.

Preheat the oven to 175 C or 350F.

Grill for 10-12 minutes on a raised rack in the roasting tray to let all the drippings fall .

Take out from the oven and let dry for 4-5 minutes.

Now baste again with butter and bake for 3 minutes.

Don’t be put off by the seemingly long time .. Its just the marination.

You will be rewarded by the most soft, yummy and delicious CHOPS!
