Judge Breadmaker- a review
There is something magical about baking bread. The entire process- the kneading, the proving, watching the dough nearly double in size .. and what tops it all is the smell of bread baking away in the oven. Even the smell of bread toasting makes my strongest resolve dissolve, such is my love for bread!
Predictably, therefore, the latest toy in my kitchen is this fabulous Digital Bread Maker from Judge.

You can choose to make all kinds of bread right from the basic simple bread recipe, French bread , whole wheat bread to gluten free bread all at the touch of a button. Check out the panel below.

You could even bake a cake, make jam or make yoghurt in this versatile machine.
Using the machine is vey easy-
It basically has one large tin in the centre which does everything for you- the kneading, baking and cooking ( for jam).

Alongwith the bread maker you get the kneading blade, a measuring spoon, a measuring cup and a metal hook that helps you remove the blade from the bread, if it does get stuck!
I made a lovely French bread- Pain de Mie ,a soft, slightly sweet bread with very little crust that is ideal for sandwiches or toast- the closest that one can get to a sandwich bread in France.
Pain de mie is a type of sliced, packaged bread. “Le pain” in French means “bread” or “loaf of bread”, and “la mie” refers specifically to the soft part of bread, called the crumb. This bread is all about the crumb rather than a crust- so yes, perfect for making lovely sandwich bread.
It can also be made is a loaf tin in the oven , but I decided to put my new toy to the test. It was really easy to make and the bread turned out delicious!
Here’s how !
Ingredients
Unsalted butter- 10 gm
Fresh yeast- 20 gm or Dry yeast- 10 gm ( I have used the 7gm sachet quite successfully as well)
Strong white flour- 500 gm
Full fat milk- 50 ml
Water- 300 ml
Butter- for greasing
Salt- 1 tsp
Ingredients

Pour the milk and water into the bread maker. Add the butter.

Add in the flour.

Add salt on one side and yeast on the other.
Switch on the machine , set on sandwich mode- sit back and relax while the machine kneads and the dough rests..

and rises.. and rises..

Then 3 hours from the time you first switched it on, you have a lovely loaf of bread.

How cool is that!

This bread can be sliced very easily and has a lovely crumb.

I found this bread very satisfying and a toasted slice of this with some lovely Raspberry curd kept me full for hours. I guess it is all to do with the slight amount of chewing that you have to do with good bread, unlike the supermarket that turns to mush as soon as you eat it.

I am totally sold on this Bread maker. It is incredibly easy to use. All you need to do is put the kneading blade in place, fill it up with the ingredients and you’re all set to bake.
Cleaning it is a doddle, since the main baking tin is non-stick, it is really easy to wash it under running water. Rinse out the kneading blade and you’re done. The digital display and instruction manual make using it really easy.
So this year, sit back, relax and let your Judge Digital Breadmaker do all the work! Find your closest stockist at Judge cookware or Amazon.
