A good kitchen should have fantastic gadgets was lovely enough to send me two beautiful tools- a nifty Zester and a Herb Chopper!

The streamlined steel zester is absolutely fab. It has a transparent safety cover that also covers the bottom and doubles up as collection and measuring compartment.

As you effortlessly move the orange/ lemon, the sharp blades of the zester shave off just the yellow skin, and catches all of the zest conveniently in this plastic tray that slides on to the back. Lovely and fragrant- safe and no pith.

Grating cheese on this is such fun too, you quickly get masses of soft fluffy cheese- grating hard things is easy too- whether it s the hard Parmesan or dark chocolate!

The cleverly designed clever cover has measurement marks with a 10-teaspoons capacity. To store the Zester, simply flip the plastic around and cover the blades!

I also got the Herb & Salad Chopper.

It does a good job- chops up the greens . I tried rosemary, coriander and spinach. It chops everything.

It would add its charm to a modern kitchen and is safe enough for use by younger chefs, who should however be careful with the blades. The hand grip is soft and comfortable and makes for easy gliding over greens.

I made this delightfully fragrant Thai  Spinach Soup by using this Herb chopper.

For storage, the blade retracts fully into the body. Cleaning is also not a problem as it is dishwasher safe.

The Elite Zester and Herb Chopper are both reasonably priced at £17.18 and £12.95 and can be bought from

TheGoodCookshop.com and colanders.co.uk or at Amazon.
