Diwali,\u00a0known as the ‘Festival of lights’ is a lovely time of the year. Lots of lights, yummy food and a lovely clean house to match.<\/p>\n

The preparation for Diwali starts a fortnight before. You start with cleaning the house. Throw away all the old and unwanted stuff and buy new clothes for yourself.<\/p>\n

A gleaming sparkling house is where Laxmi,\u00a0 the Goddess of wealth, wants to visit and bless everyone with lots of wealth and good times.\u00a0 Diwali is celebrated for 4-5 days starting from Dhanteras, when Goddess Laxmi is worshipped , Diwali day and goes on to Bhaubeej, the day when the brothers visit their sisters houses.<\/p>\n

My memories of Diwali are making lots of sweets with my Mum and\u00a0 sharing them with our neighbours, waking up at wee hours to burst crackers, so much fun!<\/p>\n

So while Diwali is just round the corner, the lovely folks over at Asda sent me this beautiful big hamper filled with such great goodies!<\/p>\n

The Hamper contains a selection of stuff for the Home, personal use and for cooking!<\/p>\n

The Home stuff includes cleaning products- the most vital thing for Diwali and includes Dishwasher tabs, scrubbers and cleaning wipes and a spray.<\/p>\n

The Personal stuff, brings you the Indian touch. They are products made by Dabur India- a facewash, scented oil for the hair. Very very thoughtful indeed.<\/p>\n

The food items include some spices, a bag of good Basmati rice and Bombay mixture and delicious Rubicon Mango juice.<\/p>\n

All in all, the perfect hamper for Diwali. Thank you guys!<\/p>\n

I’m planning to make a lovely Coconut Rice<\/a> with the rice they have given<\/p>\n

and make some lovely Cornflakes Chiwda<\/a> with the mixture.<\/p>\n

The Basmati Rice can also be used to make Payesh- the Bengali Rice Pudding.<\/a><\/p>\n
