Ikea is terrific. Who doesn’t like Ikea. Its mindboggling how everything they do is superb- be it the design, the furniture or the food. Simply brilliant.
Everytime we walk into IKEA, we drop into their canteen to grab a quick bite. Both my husband and son are big fans of their Swedish meatballs, so that is usually in demand.
I just love the sauce that they serve with the meatballs. It is simply outstanding.
Try this recipe for the exact same taste. I promise that under 5 minutes, you can have this sauce ready to go with meatballs of your choice- Swedish or otherwise.
Ingredients
- Cream- 100 ml
- Water or any stock ( veg/ chicken/beef)- 200 ml
- Light soy sauce- 1 tsp
- Plain flour- 1 tbsp
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Step 1
Heat the stock in a pan. If using a stock cube, dilute it with water and warm in the pan.
Step 2
Add in the cream and thicken with white flour while stirring constantly. You could also choose to omit the flour.
Step 3
Ensure the mixture is on low heat, and while stirring constantly, add in the soy sauce.
Step 4
Adjust the salt and pepper to your taste. As the soy sauce is salty, you might not need any more salt, but you might want to add pepper powder for a bit of heat.
Step 5
Serve the sauce with the meatballs and mashed potatoes.
