Tea makes for a huge part of my life, whether in the morning to wake me up, or an afternoon shared with a friend laughing over a  cuppa.

I was delighted to receive a few samples of some excellent tea from  Teafields, the other day.

It was lovely to try all these different teas, ranging from the super healthy Emperor Sencha to the beautiful blue flecked Earl Grey-

it was a wonderful experience. The tea itself, was an experience, both to behold and taste. Here are some of the different teas that I got to sample.

Darjeeling 1st flush Black Tea

This is a very young leaf tea, made from the tender shoots of the tea plant. Ideally steeped for 5 minutes, the tea has  a beautiful, golden liquor.

The tea is refreshing and fruity and almost has a a peachy note to it.

Darjeeling 2nd flush Black Tea

This tea is so different in taste and appearance from the first flush. Since the leaf is more mature, the dried leaf itself looks very different from the first flush.

Perfect for afternoon drinking, this tea, when brewed has a brighter, darker, more reddish colour and the typical smell of Darjeeling teas- a delicate, flowery tea with a really fine flavour.

This tea is often had with a splash of milk.

Royal Breakfast Black Tea

A robust, strong tea, this tea has a good wake-me-up note.

Much more full bodied than a regular English breakfast and best had with a splash of milk, this tea has the capacity to make your morning very special.

Jun Chiyabari- Black Tea

Although its name suggests black tea, the tea itself is an interesting mix of green and black leaves.

The brewed tea is a very light mellow tea, with an afternote of Darjeeling tea and a hint of vanilla.

The liquor is a light golden yellow in colour. Perfect for those overcast afternoons which remind you of the winters soon to come. The tea is a very light tea and needs to be infused for about 7 minutes.

Flowery Earl Grey

This tea is a pleasure even to behold. The dried tea leaves look so beautiful, that I don’t have the heart to plunge them into hot water, but the liquor is so addictive, that I have to. The tea is light and  floral, with fruity citrusy notes. Perfect for afternoons.
