Mr Lee’s noodles for health conscious noodle lovers

So we have cup noodles and more cup noodles- what’s different about Mr Lee’s noodles, then?

To my eyes, apart from the low salt and gluten free noodles, what is most important is the vegetables.

Most of the noodles that you get have vegetables, yes, but they are dehydrated and you get bits floating around. However, these noodles have freeze-dried ingredients. You can actually see and identify the vegetables. I think that makes a lot of difference to me because  freeze-drying locks more of the goodness in, so the vegetables taste fresher and better and are just healthier

Lets take a look at the Tai chi chicken noodles for example. A peek into the cup reveals this: vegetables, chicken and rice noodles.

And this is what the finished product looks like:

Now that’s what a mum likes to see, some protein, some veg and some carbs on the plate.

The noodles come in six different flavours- 2 vegetarian and 4 non-vegetarian.

  1. Hong Kong Street Beef Noodle Soup: Flat rice noodles with beef, chilli, ginger, a pinch of star anise and a touch of orange peel.
  2. Penang Chicken Curry Laksa Noodle Soup: Flat rice noodles with chicken, coconut cream, chilli and ginger.
  3. Tai Chi Chicken Noodle Soup: Fat rice noodle soup with chicken, ginger, green beans and corn.
  4. Warrior Fighting Shrimp Noodle Soup: Hot flat rice noodles with shrimp, paprika, chilli and seaweed.
  5. Shaolin Monk Vegetable Noodle Soup: Vegetarian flat rice noodles with broccoli, red peppers, green beans and cauliflower.
  6. Dragon Fire Mushroom Noodle Soup: Hot flat rice noodles with mushroom, paprika, chilli and Chinese five spice.

The noodles are really easy to prepare just like any cup noodles. Simply pour boiling water into the cup, put the lid back on,  let them sit for the recommended 2-3 minutes, mix and enjoy.

Tastewise, I like the Dragon fire Mushroom the most. As a family, we like our noodles spicy and hot.

We quite liked the Hong Kong Street Beef and the Penang Chicken Curry Laksa.  I did spike them though with some Sriracha sauce which makes everything a little more palatable. The shrimp noodles are nice, albeit a little bit smelly but what none of us liked was the Tai-Chi chicken. It was really quite bland by itself. But yes, with a little help from the Soy sauce and some chilli, it was perfect.

I think these noodles help resolve quick dinner fixes for people on a gluten free diet and those trying to watch their salt. They are quick and easy to make and quite tasty too.

I was sent a few samples of the noodles to try and was not required to write a positive review. As always, all views and experiences expressed herein , are my very own.
