Black Farmer Premium Pork Sausages- a review

We love eating sausages and are always experimenting with a variety of sausages.

Sometimes we grill them, fry them or when I’m in the mood, I chop them up and stir fry them with a bunch of Chinese sauces. Not long ago, I made a rather unusual curry with sausages- Sausage Tikka Masala- you should try it sometime.

Recently I was sent a packet of  Black Farmer sausages– a range of gluten-free sausages made entirely from British Freedom outdoor bred pork. With 90% meat from prime cuts of pork, these gluten free sausages are flavorful and delicious.

Did you know that the Black Farmer Premium Pork gluten free sausages won joint first place winners in the Good Housekeeping – Blind Taste Test, while the new Pulled Pork gluten free sausages were shortlisted in the Specialist Category in the 2015 British Sausage Week ‘Sausages of Distinction’.

“It is a real testament to the quality and flavour of The Black Farmer sausages that they should be recognised in this way by two independent panels,” says Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones aka The Black Farmer.

Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones first worked as a chef, then was a producer/director  working on food and drink programmes in the BBC and has brought top celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Antony Worrall-Thompson, Brian Turner and James Martin to the small screen.

In 2000, he bought a small farm on the Devon/Cornwall border, and 10 years ago launched           The Black Farmer food brand that produces these award winning gluten free sausages as well as bacon, burgers, meatballs, chicken, eggs and cheese.

Good Housekeeping says- ‘The Black Farmer Premium Pork Sausages are beautifully succulent sausages with a good kick of pepper.

I tried them out and they were really good. Succulent, well-seasoned, flavourful and tasty. I must credit that to the quality of pork used and the fact that it is a whopping 90%.

You might think- Pork sausage- shouldn’t it be full of pork? What’s the big deal?  You’d be surprised- most other sausages contain mostly fat and the pork content is 34% upwards.

So think before you buy just any sausages- do look out for Black farmer sausages.

They can be bought at all leading supermarkets and Ocado has the entire range.

You must try them!
